Beyond Cost Plus

Beyond Cost Plus is a resource for small business owners in general and retail florists in particular. The goal is to help them be more profitable through better pricing.

There are still some small business owners that don’t have a pricing strategy. Most of those that do still use the traditional cost plus model, where costs are multiplied by a certain amount to arrive at a selling price.

The problem is that the cost plus model is no longer the best model. Greater sales and profits are attainable through what is often called Value or Psychological Pricing. Used by some of the largest and most successful companies in the world these more advanced pricing strategies help make them incredibly profitable.

Beyond Cost Plus aims to help smaller businesses take advantage of these techniques. It deconstructs the most powerful and effective (and sometimes seemingly bizarre) pricing practices we see around us every single day and shows small business owners how they can apply them in their own businesses.

It also includes painless and easy to understand definitions of related concepts from economics – things like diminishing marginal utility, price elasticity and more, along with real-world examples and case studies.

There is also interesting information for consumers. There are good and bad deals out there, but it can be hard to tell them apart. By understanding the pricing strategies employed out there in the world you will be better able to tell the good deals from the bad.

Mark also present Beyond Cost Plus content at industry events. You can find more information on the Beyond Cost Plus events page or the Lanyrd website.
